Do I need a patch to play battlefield 2 online mutiplayer?

I got the game Battlefield 2 modern combat for windows 7 and I got it correctly downloaded onto my computer. I want to play Multiplayer. I got an account on game spy, but when i type in my info correctly on the game login part it does not load. Do I need a patch to run this part of the game correctly?Do I need a patch to play battlefield 2 online mutiplayer?

If its a pirated version first you need to remove the crack and replace it with the original executable or if you deleted the original exes reinstall the game.

Download patch 1.41 and 1.5 from here:

You need to install 1.41 first and then the 1.5.(You dont need a crack for the 1.5 version because you dont need a cd to play this time.)

Now you need to download punkbuster from here:

http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

When you download it click on add games and add battlefield 2.Click update and wait until its done.

Now you should be able to login.If not check your firewall.I had the same issue and i had to add an exception to my firewall because it blocked it.
